Sneak Peek: "Anna and Brian"

(EDITED: AT THE REQUEST OF THE PUBLISHER OF CURE TODAY, I HAVE REMOVED THE PHOTOS OF ANNA AND BRIAN UNTIL THE MAGAZINE IS RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC ON MARCH 28TH. PLEASE CHECK BACK AGAIN THEN TO VIEW THE PHOTOS. THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING!)

I had a fabulous Think Pink session with Anna and Brian this past weekend. I was contacted by this national publication called Cure Today to do a photo shoot of Anna and Brian for an upcoming article about marriage after a cancer diagnosis. I jumped at the chance to do this shoot because I just knew it would be a blast!

We met in German Village and wandered around in the cold shooting all afternoon. It was so much fun! These two are so in love and so amazing together that it made my job so easy! I wish we could have shot all day but it was so cold and the biting wind didn't help the situation.

You can read Anna's "Survivor Story" on the Young Survivor Coalition's website
here. She is truly an inspiration to me and I am so glad I got this opportunity to spend a little bit of time with such an amazing couple. I will post the selected shots from the magazine article when it gets published.

Sneak Peek: "Baby G"

Alright, get ready for a moody session from me! I'm not sure what got into me during this session but I was feeling super artistic and moody so the photos are a little out of my norm!

This little guy was so good and easy to work with. He wasn't too trilled with being swaddled (but at 8 weeks, that's not surprising) but he was up for everything else. I had photographed "Baby G"'s mom a couple months ago (she is the beautiful pregnant mommy in the header photo), so I had been looking forward to shooting this session for a while now. They invited "Baby G"'s Grandfather over for a few shots as well. He has this amazing anchor tattoo from when he was a sailor so we HAD to got some shots of it as well. Grandpa wasn't too thrilled about the idea of taking his shirt off but he was such a trooper and humored us. I think they will all be pleasantly surprised with the results!

Sneak Peek: "Baby M"

Check out super cute little 4 month old "Baby M". He was a natural at staring at my camera with those big brown eyes. His room has this amazing window seat that brought in so much light, I just couldn't resist snapping several shots on that seat. "Baby M" wasn't feeling all that smiley for the session but he certainly was being a cutie! They have such a beautiful house that will be amazing to shoot in once this little guy is able to sit up and crawl around.

what’s new? december 07/jan 08

“Survey says!”:

I just wanted to put out a little thank you to all of my previous clients who took the time to fill out my survey recently. I got a lot of great feedback (and wonderful compliments!) from all of you. I have taken the list of suggestions and made a few changes to the way we do things. :-)

“Attention all shoppers!”:

I know the ordering process was a little archaic and tedious with viewing the slide show, emailing the order, getting the invoice from us, paying for the prints, etc. So...we have now added an online ordering system to our website. You will now be able to view your photos, order, and pay directly from the site. All the various options are listed with prices included to make the ordering process a breeze. You can mark your favorites, pull up several photos for comparisons, and even choose photos for books and albums. I have had a few clients try test the system for me and so far everyone has LOVED it!!

I may not be the milkman but...:

I will now be offering personal delivery of photo orders. I will be scheduling the delivery of orders one day a week (usually on Fridays). I may also be able to deliver your orders to you on Saturdays if I happen to be in the area on a shoot. This will allow me to make sure your prints get to you in perfect condition (you never know what the postal service will do!) and be there to answer any questions you may have about how and where to display your new photos. You will still be able to pick up your orders here as well if that will work better for you but some people preferred delivery so...I aim to please! :-)

Speaking of delivery:

I have had several clients ask me about doing birth photography to document those precious moments up to, during, and right after the baby is born. Being able to witness a child being born is an amazing thing and I would love to be there to document those first few moments. I am considering adding this to my line up of offerings, so please contact me directly if this is something you are interested in.

Cancel the moving vans!:

Thanks to all of the feedback on the new studio idea, I have decided to postpone my studio search for the time being. It seems that you guys really like the on-location sessions the best, so it doesn't make much sense to rent a studio! I apologize to those of you out-of-towners who were looking forward to me having a studio. Hopefully we can work something out on-location! I am scouting out some new locations to try out as soon as this cold weather breaks so it should be fun to continue the on-location sessions for awhile!

Columbus Parent Magazine:

I still can’t believe this is happening, but my first cover is on newsstands now. I happened to use Kyan for the January cover but I assure you, my children will not be on every cover! The February cover will be featuring an adorable little girl named Jennifer. I will be posting that cover as soon as they make a final decision on the photo.

Would you like to see your little one featured on the cover of Columbus Parent Magazine? Keep an eye on the blog for future “casting calls” for photo shoots. The session is free and if your child is chosen for the cover, you will receive a free 11 x 14 print of the cover photo!

“Here comes Peter Cottontail”:

I know we are all dealing with this latest round of winter weather but I wanted to put out a friendly reminder that Easter is early this year. If you are wanting Easter photos of your children, please book your session to take place prior to Saturday March 1st. I know this seems really early but in order to give you the quality photographs you have come to love, it will take a couple weeks to get all the photos proofed, ordered, printed, and delivered. I am hoping we will get some warm(er) days in February so that we can get some cute outdoor shots of all your little kiddos dressed in their Sunday Best but we will see!

So, start your Easter shopping now and book that session before they are all full. Let me know if you have any questions!

new and noteworthy:

Congrats to Jane and Dan who welcomed baby James and Sarah and Beau who welcomed a baby boy (I’m not sure of the name yet!) this month. Congrats also go out to Beth and Skot who welcomed baby Grayson and Samantha and Jon who welcomed baby Caden in November.

Happy birthday goes out to Eleanor who turned 1 in December, and to Jack and Ellie who both turned 1 in January.

don’t forget:

* Maternity photos are best done between 32 and 36 weeks. Schedule your session early to make sure we can fit you in before the baby arrives.

* Newborn sessions are done within the first 10-14 days after the birth. Please be sure to call me as soon as the baby arrives to schedule your session.

* I will be starting senior sessions for the Class of 2008 soon. Please contact me if you are interested in more information. All prices and offerings will be the same as the current portrait pricing but there will be some added incentives for seniors!

Sneak Peek: "Baby R"

This was my second session with adorable little "Baby R". I always love the 6 month session in the "Little Milestones" package. It's always so amazing how much they grow and change in 3 short months. She wasn't feeling super smiley during the session, but we got a few of those toothless grins! She LOVES her Daddy!

Just a little heads up ~Easter is coming soon~

I know it is FREEZING outside (we just came in from the hot tub and I had ICE in my hair!) but I wanted to put out a friendly reminder that Easter is early this year. Sharing a few from vacation...

It has been 2 weeks since we got home from vacation but I am just now getting around to uploading photos! How sad is that? I thought I would share some photos from our trip. Keep in mind, they aren't amazing photographs but they will give you a glimpse into our vacation to DisneyWorld. Enjoy!

Kyan playing with Gi-Gi in line at Animal Kingdom:

Chasen posing for photos in between rides:

Kyan playing with Papa during dinner (notice he is eating a lime!):

Alex and I outside of the Tower of Terror on New Year's Eve:

Our soggy family on New Year's Eve. (Rain was one of the many weather situations we dealt with during our trip!):

Kyan playing peek-a-boo with Papa:

Kyan posing as always!:

Chasen hiding from the camera (as always!):

And then it got COLD...17 degrees COLD...in FLORIDA!!:

Trying to stay warm and entertained while in line for the "It's a Small World" ride. (No kids' ride should have a line longer than an hour!):

Kyan meeting Winnie the Pooh at a character breakfast:

Chasen modeling his new Pirate garb after riding the much sought after Pirates of the Caribbean ride. He was so happy to get his "pirate Mickey ears"!:

One final shot of our vacation...including the Pirates of the Caribbean sweatshirt that Chasen wore for 4 days straight! We didn't pack any warm clothes for the vacation to FLORIDA! What were we thinking? ;-) :

Okay, that was fun! Now I have to get back to work! :-)

Meet Captain Luah! (aka Chasen)

Some of you may already know this, but a couple weeks ago Chasen was diagnosed with an eye condition called Amblyopia. It is a disorder where the vision in one of the eyes is reduced because the eye and the brain are not working together properly. The eye itself looks normal, but it is not being used normally because the brain is favoring the other eye. This condition is also sometimes called lazy eye. We are now starting "patching treatment" which means that he has to wear an eye patch over the good eye for 4 hours a day to force the bad eye to work harder and hopefully strengthen it to make it equal to the good eye.

To top it off he now has glasses to wear all the time, so we are going through a little bit of an adjustment period. He is really doing a great job with the whole thing. He makes us refer to him as Captain Luah" while he is patching and his preschool teachers even had a pirate day at school on his first day back with the patch. They had all the kids where eye patches and made a big deal of making him feel special about his special patch and glasses.

Anyway...the kids were with me on the photo shoot for the cover the other day and of course he just had to have his time in the spotlight as well so I took the opportunity to snap a few photos of him with his glasses and patch. They aren't the best photos but he NEVER wants his photo taken so I had to take advantage of it when I got the chance!
