Sneak Peek: "Little R's 1st Birthday Party"

I had the honor of being asked to photograph "Little R"'s first birthday party last weekend and I must say, I had a great time! All of the family and friends at the party were so friendly and made me feel right at home. The house was packed full of people...and this was the "low-key" guest list for the party! The children at this party were so adorable; I swear, they all could be child models!

The party had an adorable little Lady Bug theme ("Little R"'s nickname is "Bug") with just about everything being hand-made by Mom. I couldn't get over how cute the cakes and cookies were! With all the cute kids and decor, I couldn't limit my post to the usual 8 sneak peeks, so you are getting double the norm. Happy Birthday again, "Little R"!

Sneak Peek: "Little S"

Now this was a fun session! I met up with "Little S" and his parents Saturday night. My husband and I were going to see The Dark Knight after the session, so I brought him along with me and since he also has a background in photography, I gave him my backup camera and had him second shoot. It was so much fun to have him along with me during the shoot. "Little S" is a pretty shy kid (although it only took about 30 minutes for him to warm up this time compared to the 2 hours last November!) so it worked out well to have a second perspective to get the shots.

About half way through our session, the clouds rolled in and it started pouring down rain! We scrambled to cover up the cameras but since "S" was enjoying the rain, I had Alex hold the reflector over my head and camera as a make-shift umbrella and we continued shooting. We got some super cute shots of "S" laughing at my "umbrella"! In this case, a little rain actually helped out the situation! :-)

Sneak Peek: "Mommy-To-Be J"

It's time to show off another gorgeous mommy-to-be! This couple was so much fun to work with. We were all laughing and joking the whole session; I felt like I had known them for years within the first couple minutes. "Mommy-To-Be J" wanted to capture her growing tummy in a tasteful way without showing off to much skin. I think we managed to do just that with some amazing results! Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy, "J"!

Sneak Peek: Ziya your Rock n Roll Princess!

I met up with Ziya and her parents last week to shoot her Rock n Roll Princess session. You guys couldn't have picked a more rockin' little girl for this session. She came prepared to fit the rock n roll persona complete with clip-in pink hair, several costume changes of leggings, skirts, and tees, a Guitar Hero guitar, you name it! We had a great time just playing around with all the possibilities. Ziya even got out her camera and took a few photos of me as well! So cute!

(Chasen is out of surgery and is sleeping peacefully on the couch. Everything seems to have gone as planned so we will see. I am trying to get as much work done as possible before he wakes up from his much needed, drug-induced nap!)

Please keep us in your thoughts...

My oldest son, Chasen, will be going in for surgery on his eyes again tomorrow. He had this same surgery back in March and did just fine so we are hoping things will go well this time around as well. The surgeon is optimistic that this will be the last surgery so we are hoping he is right. Please keep us in your thoughts tomorrow. It is always a stressful day to watch them wheel your little boy away for surgery. He is very strong and understands why he needs the surgery, so that helps. He is excited to "chose the fruit punch scented sleeping mask and watch Star Wars in the basement". :-) Assuming he has a quick recovery like last time, I should be back to work on Tuesday. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

(View my previous blog posts HERE about his condition and HERE for the photo documentation of his previous surgery.)

Sneak Peek: "Baby R"

My how quickly they grow up! "Baby R" turned one this week which means that my postings going forward will be "Little R" instead of "Baby R"! I started photographing "Baby R" at 3 months and I can't believe how much she has changed since then! We got together to do a little photoshoot last week to finish her "Little Milestones" package. The family was leaving on vacation immediately after the shoot so "R" was a little out of sorts considering the house was filled with people excited for vacation. I am telling you...that house looked like the beginning scenes of Home Alone! (I hope you guys are having a great time and relaxing a little on vacation!) I will be joining "Baby R" and the family to photograph her First Birthday party on Sunday so that should be a blast as well! Happy Birthday, "Baby R"!
