Cancun or Bust!

As many of you know (since I can't stop talking about it!) we are leaving for a week long family vacation to Cancun tomorrow. My parents have a time share there, so we are packing up the kiddos and heading down for 7 days of nice warm, sunny weather and I can safely say we are all pretty excited. We were last there 2 years ago when Kyan was only 3 months old and Chasen was only 3 years old, so this time will be a completely different experience!

I will be out of the office from tomorrow Saturday, January 31st through Sunday, February 8th. I will not have access to voice mail or email so please be patient and I will return all messages when I return. If you are looking to schedule a session, please leave me a message with your preferred day (MWFS) and time (10:00AM, 1:00PM, 3:00PM). I do have a couple sessions open for the week of February 9th but they are limited. I will answer all messages in the order I receive them.

Thanks so much for your patience and I will talk to you when I return!

I got this catalog in the mail the other day so I thought I would share. They have all kinds of bedding, bath, and room decor on their site. I found some super cute stuff for girls however, I felt that the boys stuff was a little lacking for my taste but still worth mentioning!

Great Storage idea for the Playroom:

I just discovered this site a few days ago, and I am in love! They have so many great toys and interactive playthings for the kids and guess what? I didn't see any of them that take batteries, make loud beeping sounds, or repeat phrases over and over and over again! Just good...classic toys with a modern feel to them. They also have some great room decor and accessories.

Speaking of good ideas for the playroom:

I just love the whimsical feel of this stacking toy:

Kids will be praying for a rainy day to use this umbrella:

I have heard such great things about this site. I have yet to actually purchase my "true jean" but it was interesting to see what styles it would recommend that I should wear. You go through several steps to measure yourself and enter your dimensions. Unfortunately, you can close your eyes and pretend to not see the number like you do on the scale at the Dr.'s office so that part can be a bit tough to swallow! Once you have gotten all your measurements in, you get to select the style of jeans that you like and wa-la...your perfect jeans appear on the screen as if by magic. Now since I haven't actually purchased any of the jeans from the site, I can't say first hand that I have found my "true jeans" but I have heard great things from others! Check it out if you have some time and comment back about your experience!

Columbus Parent Magazine- February Issue

It's a new month and that means it is time for a new cover. This month's cover features adorable little 22 month old Myka. I met Myka and her parents several months ago in the Short North for a photo shoot and I just couldn't resist submitting this photo for the cover. Congrats on your stardom, Myka!

Sneak Peek: "Little M"

This little guy was so cute! I met "Little M" and his Mom at the Franklin Park Conservatory for a session last week. We had so much fun exploring everything. "M" was obsessed with seeing the trains so, of course, I saved those for last. Every 2 minutes he was begging, "Go see trains?". It was too cute!

Friday Finds: 01/23/09

I have gathered up another few great sites for this issue of Friday Finds. Feel free to leave a comment or send me a message if you know of some great sites that should be featured as a Friday Find. :-)

I just got this new catalog in the mail yesterday and was immediately drawn to the bright colors and playful patterns in this line of casual clothing for the whole family. I have only browsed the children's line but they have clothes for adults as well. The line was established in the UK and is making its way in the US now. I love that the kids clothes have a lot of personality but don't cost a fortune.

If you are planning any kind of party in the near future, you should check out this site for inspiration. There are ideas for just about every type of party (focusing on Bridal Showers, Baby Showers, and adult parties). I just love how grown up and elegant everything looks. I spent hours on this site coming up with ideas when I was helping to plan my good friend Sarah's baby shower. (I posted images from the shower about 7 months ago on my blog.)

A couple of my favorite party themes:

Coffee and Desert Birthday

Something Blue Bridal Shower (This one is not a surprise given my love of Tiffany's!)

Modern Alphabet Baby Shower

If you are interested in ways to get healthy foods into your daily life, check out this site. My good friend Shannon is a nutritionist (with a funky...non-nutritionist flair) and started a site with cooking videos, tips, recipes, etc. on how to live a healthy life.

Sneak Peek: "Little R"

This was my 5th session with "Little R" and I must say she has grown up so much since I saw her for her 1st birthday party 6 months ago. She was just a little baby...not yet walking, not yet talking. This session was a completely new "R"! She was running around in circles, jabbering up a storm about Dora and Backpack and Snow. It was so cute to see her come alive as a little person from the little baby that I have watched grow up over the past 16 months. We even managed to get some good smiles out of her which has not been easy to do in the past. Enjoy your sneak peeks, guys!

Sneak Peek: "Baby D"

Meet newborn "Baby D"...the latest little guy to make me want to have another baby. I swear, this little one was so adorable, it almost makes me consider it! "D" was pretty much wide awake through our whole session but still remained pretty calm despite me insisting he get naked and lay in weird positions! We got some great family shots in the mix while he was still awake. "D"'s parents are both gorgeous, so that wasn't a difficult task! With a little bit of coaxing and cuddling, Mom got him to sleep for the last few shots...just perfect!

Friday Finds: 01/16/09

I am always finding great online shops and blogs, so I thought I would start sharing them with you guys in a weekly post. Hopefully, you will find something that interests you!

This place is amazing if you have little girls and have the money to spend on an amazing piece of clothing. I get so excited when my catalog arrives in the mail each month. They have both little girls' and little boys' clothing and accessories with a European flare. I LOVE their little dresses for girls, rompers with ruffles on the bum for toddlers, and rock tees for little boys. I have bought Chasen a couple things from here (a winter coat, woven blue shirt with a guitar screen print, and pirate/skulls rubber rain boots) and never had a problem with any of it. The clothes are adorable and made to last a long time!

Anything from this company would make a great outfit for a photoshoot! Hint, hint!!

I just came across this site about a month ago, and it has me intrigued. From the website:

SafetyTat was born of necessity one weekend at an amusement park. On Labor Day Weekend, Michele and her husband, there with their three small children, felt out-numbered. To stave her panic, she quickly wrote her mobile phone number on each of their arms with a ballpoint pen. As she did this, she thoughtfully explained to each of them the importance of staying close to Mommy and Daddy. She also told them that if they were separated that the number on their arm was a way to reconnect with them. Throughout the day of fun, Michele had to rewrite the number several times as it smeared or washed off. Several parents in the park, stopped her to ask if that was her number on the kids' arms. Each time, they loved the idea. The day was a success and the idea for SafetyTat was born.

I love the idea that they have all kinds of tats that address issues other than just the parents' contact info. I am thinking about getting the "non-verbal" ones for Kyan the next time we head to an amusement park.

A client of mine last week told me about these swaddling blankets and I just couldn't wait to get home and look them up. The website is a little tricky to navigate, but these swaddling blankets are to die for! They are so soft and cuddly, yet thin and perfect for swaddling. They come in a bunch of trendy patterns...just perfect for my clients! Thanks so much for telling me about them, Melanie!
